Research On The Positive And Negative Effects Of Knowledge Spillover On Cluster Innovation

Knowledge is the source of innovation. The thesis for knowledge managementwithin cluster has been so hot a problem in innovation research of cluster. Knowledgespillover is an element of industrial cluster, and is the focus of knowledgemanagement within cluster. Most scholars believe that knowledge spillover canincrease the innovation capacity of industry or enterprises and can improve theinnovation performance, but it is not a simple relationship between knowledgespillover and cluster innovation, there is dialectical relationship between knowledgespillover and cluster innovation. On the one hand, knowledge spillover will generateincentive effects to cluster innovation, even became an effective carrier for clusterinnovation, on the other hand, knowledge spillover would also produce block effectsto cluster innovation.In view of this，the positive and negative effects of knowledge spillover oncluster innovation is studied in this thesis. First, through logical analysis, the model ofpositive and negative effects of knowledge spillover on cluster innovation is proposed.Secondly, game theory is used in this section, and obtains the conclusion: when thespeed of knowledge spillover is moderate，knowledge spillover can improve the levelof industrial cluster R&D, but, when the speed of knowledge spillover is extremelyfast, especially there is less cooperation and more competition，knowledge spilloverwill hinder cluster innovation，because it will led to the "prisoner’s dilemma" ofinvestments in innovation. Also in this section, system dynamics model of“Knowledge Spillover-Cluster Innovation” is established in order to examineknowledge spillover how to dynamically effects of the process of cluster innovation.This model simulates the evolution of positive and negative effects, related controlmeasures are given in this thesis. Finally, in order to make analysis more persuasive,the thesis takes the conditions of Jinjiang’s Shoes industrial cluster and Yongkang’sVacuum cup industrial cluster as an example to test the validity of the model.
