In2011, Chinese mobile market maintains a good momentum of developmentrelying on the stable and rapid pace of the international market. The companies haveto face, in addition to the enormous potential of the market, an increasingly fiercecompetition within the mobile industry. Recent years, company M continues todecline in the firm performance. The enterprise strategy and culture of pursuingquality innovation gradually can not meet the current growing and changing demandsof the consumer. The past pattern of occupying the market by using one or twomobile products has now been broken. It is also less effective to manage and preventthe quality problems of more than20new products per year by using the currentquality management mode. The long cycle of quality level improvement often cannotsatisfy the demand of customers, and cause a reduction of the product users’satisfaction.This thesis analyzes both internal operations pressure and external competitionpressure that company M now is facing, and summarizes the development status andcharacteristics of new mobile products’ quality management in the first chapter. InChapter2, it introduces the background of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(FMEA), a reliable tool of quality management, and its application status both inChina and abroad. Then it reviews the basic theories and application properties ofFMEA. In Chapter3, it does an in-depth analysis with the new product qualityassurance processes of company M by using FMEA, and finds the potential failuremode in design, production, process and maintenance and other aspects in trialproduction of new mobiles by collecting and analyzing related production data. At thesame time, it describes the causes of failure mode by using the Fishbone Diagram,Brainstorming and some other quality tools. It also estimates the failure severity,detection and occurrence, and calculates the Risk Priority Number by using somemethods in statistical management. And then, it makes an analysis of managementproblems and potential dangers in company M by combining with the existing newproduct quality management mode and process, also considering the company’soperating mode and features as well. In the last chapter of the thesis, in view of theexisting problems in the company M, it gives suggestions of improving the management mode, raising quality awareness and many other aspects of qualitymanagement.
