At present, the aging of the population has become worldwide tendency.In2010, the population share for over65years was23.1%in Japan and9.7%in China, respectively. It’s expected that the change of population structure will have a greater impact on consumption, In this paper, by using the data from1990to2020, I analyzed the effects of consumption by population structures’changes of Japan and China. As a background analysis, I studied the economic growth since the1950s, changes in industrial structure, and the changes of the population structure and the changes of consumption structure by income and age groups.By using of the regression analysis, I investigated the impact on consumption, the necessities consumption, health consumption and education by aging of the population. The results show that the population structure’s changes had a significant impact on consumption. In Japan, with serious aging population, medical consumption and home expenses have increased, the education spending has tended to rise and then turned downward trend. In China, for nearly20years, housing, health and education expenditure have increased. However, as seen from Japanese experience with aging progresses, education expenditure will decrease in the future.
