Research On Strategies Of The Development Of Agaricus Bisporus Industrialization In Zhangzhou City

Agaricus bisporus, whose English name is Button Mushroom or Common Cultivated Mushroom. It got the name "Agaricus bisporus" because it has only two basidiospores on its basidium. The cultivation of Agaricus bisporus can date back to France300years ago. In the1860s, Agaricus bisporus was introduced into European and North American countries and the yield increased7%per year. Currently, it has taken up the largest European and American markets of edible mushroom consumption and has become one of global bulk commodities. It was introduced into China in1930s. Since1960s, Zhangzhou has started the productive cultivation of Agaricus bisporus. In these forty years, with the area of cultivation developing annually, the yield increasing and the total output taking the first place nationally, Zhangzhou was called the Township of Mushrooms. After many years of development, Zhangzhou has formed Agaricus bisporus industrial clusters, which include production enterprises as well as marketing enterprises. The industrial clusters also involve the sound cross-strait, national and international industrial cooperation. Their production and management have achieved scale, factorization and industrialization. China is now steadily ranking the first in international trade in Agaricus bisporus in recent years. In2010, the export of Agaricus bisporus and its canned products in Zhangzhou accounted for80%of China. Therefore, doing research on the current situation and countermeasures of mushroom industrialization in Zhangzhou matters a lot. Famous for Agaricus bisporus industry in China, Zhangzhou enjoys advantages in germplasm resources, climatic resources, labor resources and abundant technology resources to develop Agaricus bisporus industry. Developing Agaricus bisporus industry according to local conditions can not only improve people’s income, but also promote industrial structure adjustment of local agriculture, help the development of the related industries and promote economic development in Zhangzhou.Industrialization means specialization. Agaricus bisporus industry includes growing, processing and marketing. Due to limited space, this paper focuses on growing and refers to processing and marketing as well. By investigation and research on the current situation of Agaricus bisporus industry, the paper briefly introduces the concept of Agaricus bisporus and Agaricus bisporus industry and analyzes the related theories of the development of Agaricus bisporus industry, and overseas and domestic research status, which serve as the background of research on the development of Agaricus bisporus industry in Zhangzhou. This article also reviews the development process of Agaricus bisporus industry in Zhangzhou, proposes the strategic choices according to a SWOT analysis and analyses Zhangzhou’s experiences in development of Agaricus bisporus industry through three cases in Longhai City, Changtai County and Nanjing County. Meanwhile, combined with overseas and domestic successful experiences, some solutions and suggestions on the development of Zhangzhou Agaricus bisporus industry are proposed. First, build brands to enhance the level of industrialization of edible mushroom industry. Second, make planning to advance the intensive development of Agaricus bisporus industry. Third, reinforce scientific research to promote the sustainable and healthy development of Agaricus bisporus industry. Fourth, focus on services to optimize and upgrade Agaricus bisporus industry. Fifth, guide actively to accelerate the construction of Agaricus bisporus information network. Sixth, enhance communication to promote exchanges and cooperation of Agaricus bisporus industry. Seventh, strengthen innovation to speed up the transformation of research achievements of Agaricus bisporus and so on.
