Studies On The Advantages And Strategies Of Development For Export Of Vegetables In Zhangzhou City

As a prefecture-level city, Zhangzhou is located at the southern end of Fujian Province, which is the largest vegetable production base for export in Fujian Province. In 2006, the cultivated area of the vegetables in Zhangzhou was up to 106326.667 hectares and the yield of vegetables was 243 million tons, the export amount of the vegetable was 20.53 million tons and the foreign currencies it earned was up to 19.494 million dollars, which increased by 11,694,000 dollars. Compared with the same period of 2005,it increased by 6.38% over the previous year.Advantages of Vegetable Production for export in Zhangzhou is as follows:(Ⅰ)The position and natural advantage:It has convenient transportation, foreign economic and technological exchange of communications has been always more active. Zhangzhou city has broad land, abundant fresh water resources, abundant living resources are and sufficient workforce resources, which are suitable to planting. It has the climate superiority to develop vegetable all the year round.(Ⅱ)The basic advantages of agricultural comprehensive development and industrialization with higher level.(Ⅲ)There are other advantages:advantages and complementarity of economic cooperation between Zhangzhou and Taiwan, policy advantages which accelerates the agricultural cooperation and exchange between Zhangzhou and Taiwan, the advantages of vegetable producing area which occupy the first of Fujian Province producing area, the scale advantage of output and processing exporting value and abundant workforce resources advantages, so the costs is low.The following are the characters of the vegetables industry of Zhangzhou:the products are regionalized and in large scale; the season characteristic is strong; the variety is fine; the products are standardized, serialized and brandied,which show tremendous potential.But there are many difficulties.They are mainly that the low intensity for intensive production,imperfect vegetables industrialization working mechanism and incompatible production link with requirement. And product quality and brand consciousness should be improved and foreign market is too single. It is difficult to evade sanction and risk. Mainly through investigating and visiting to vegetables production base, processing enterprise and relevant departments of government in Zhangzhou, we attempt to find out and accelerate the way to the development of export for the vegetables industry in Zhangzhou. Through analyzing, it showed some countermeasures that we should advance the industrialization of vegetables of export, provide good service for leading enterprises, strengthen technological cooperation and exchange between Zhangzhou and Taiwan, promote the new varieties and new technologies of vegetables well and expand vegetables exchange in foreign market and get benefit on finish machining, which are favor of export for the vegetables industry of Zhangzhou.
