| Chongming Electric Power Company is a local state-owned enterprise administered by Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company. The company mainly engages in various industries related to electricity and is responsible for the supply of power to the Chongming area. As the electric power system reform progresses, the company faces an opportunity to be incorporated into the State Grid Corporation. With changes in domestic and international environments and fast economic development in the Chongming area, the local power grid can no longer meet the requirements for the construction of the Smart Grid. Meanwhile, higher customer demands in safety, stability and quality of power supply have seen a deficiency of supply versus demand. This demonstrates the company’s urgent need for a clear strategic goal and corresponding strategic measures as a set of guides for its development. This thesis analyzes the available resources and environment within Chongming Electric Power Company with the use of strategic management theories, and with this as a basis, it aims to forge a set of development strategy and corresponding measures which ensure its effective implementation.This article thoroughly analyzes the internal and external environment of the company with the use of PEST analysis and Porter’s Five Forces analysis, and furthermore applies SWOT analysis comprehensively on the internal strengths, weaknesses, and external opportunities and threats the company is facing. By using these results we are able to establish the development strategy of the company. Lastly, this thesis aims to put forward measures which ensure the effective implementation of the company’s strategies; measures such as extending power grid construction, focusing on technological innovation and advancements, enhancing human resources management, and furthering the consolidation of corporate culture and values. |
