The Study Of Supplier Involvement On New Product Development Performance

For manufacturing enterprise, its innovation ability of products and service is the biggest challenge to maintain the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing industry and the main soft rib of the transformation and upgrade of Chinese manufacturing industry. With the progress of science and technology and rapid change of market, the product life cycle greatly shorten. How to shorten new product development time reduce the development cost and at the same time, improve the quality and innovative is the urgent problem the manufacturing enterprises facing. Supplier involvement in new product development, as a kind of new cooperative innovation mode, has become the effective means to solve this problem, and has also become an important topic in the field of research of supplier involvement in new product development. At present, manufacturing enterprises of our country develop greatly, and gradually participate in the global competition, the practices of supplier involvement in new product development have been more and more, but which also faced with some prominent problems.In this study, firstly we reviewed and summarized the related theory on new product development, supplier involvement in new product development. Secondly, we constructed theory model about supplier involvement, new product development performance, technology uncertainty and collaborative experience and put forward the hypothesis supplier involvement included timing and extent of supplier involvement, new product development performance was measured through product development time and cost of new products quality and innovative, technical uncertainty and collaborative experience is the moderator variable in this study. Then on the basis of prediction of the small sample, we modified and improved the initial questionnaire, ensured the large sample questionnaire of this study, tested empirically and analyzed research model and hypothesis using SPSS19.0data statistical tool. Finally, we summarized the conclusion of this study as follows:(l)Supplier involvement in new product development and its dimensions have positive significant influence on new product development performance.(2)Technology uncertainty moderates relationship between timing of supplier involvement and new product development performance, but doesn’t play a moderating role between extent of supplier involvement and new product development performance.(3)Collaborative experience moderates relationship between extent of supplier involvement and new product development performance, but doesn’t play a moderating role between timing of supplier involvement and new product development performance.
