Consumption is the necessary condition and material prerequisite for human survival and development. With the rapid development of society, and the abundance of material, the purpose and means of consumption have undergone considerable changes. Although consumption has been designed to meet the needs of material requirements, it can’t bring about human’s liberation and development. Instead, consumption forces mankind to the road of being enslaved. About that for a longtime, Chinese and foreign scholars used different field of knowledge, such as the economic, philosophy, social, cultural, they try to analyze and understand about the consumer issues. In Marx’s writings, including the word of "consumption" appear so many sections of the text, we can learn from this situation about the number of frequency its occurrence, the introduction of Marx’s machinery industry in their respective era, through the collection of a large number of first-hand material for the original consumer society has been a certain degree of investigation and analysis. But perhaps limited to the historical background of widespread poverty, consumer alienation did not become the main perspectives of social criticism, but also because Marxism itself constrained by many objective and subjective factors, so then do not use special chapter on consumer issues were discussed. This is undoubtedly our more comprehensive understanding and application of Marx’s thought is a loss. But fortunately, we can learn from Marx’s criticized Mill’s book "Principles of Political Economy" and Marx’s book "Das Kapital" Vol.1-3glimpse of several chapters of its unique insights about consumer issues. Thus I believe that Marx’s theory of consumer ideology is its integral part, although due to limitations of time and effort, the focus of Marxist critique of capitalism are on the alienation of labor and production, consumer issues not specifically studied in depth, forming a comprehensive systematic theoretical viewpoint, but its internal logic of thinking about consumption has been scattered among the writings of Marx. Marx after Marxism, including Marxism, post-Marxism has to draw from Marxist ideology nutrient consumption, focusing on areas of consumption of the new situation and new problems, and continue to extend and expand consumer theory. So if we can depart from the text of Marx, Marx himself failed to complete theory of consumption to be integrated, the presentation, the development of contemporary society can certainly provide a new theoretical basis and practical guidance. With Marx’s classic text in this article summarizing consolidation Marx’s consumption theory of capitalism. Preamble to state any implications for the subject of this article, involved in research at home and abroad in the field of research, as well as the basic idea of this article. Then the main part of this article:first, combined with the capitalist mode of production, on the relationship between consumption and production of and discusses the relationship between consumption and social reproduction. Secondly, as Marx believed that under certain social conditions, consumption will occur due to the alienation of labor alienation of qualitative change, resulting in the formation of commodity fetishism. Respectively, fired on the two main factors analysis of the alienation of consumption. Once again, by Marx’s critique of consumption theory proposed by Muller, leads to the connotation of Marx’s theory of consumption-the embodiment of man’s nature. As production and labor should be human nature, consumption should be the same. Finally, the objective summary of Marx’s consumption theory to capitalist society, contains value for today’s socialist society.Hope this article through an analysis of Marx’s theory of consumption, to allay the conflict between socio-economic and production, to achieve harmonious coexistence between man and nature, for the liberation of body and soul, and many other practical problems brings enlightenment.
