Commercial banks, an integral part of national finance system, exert considerable impact on efficiency of the latter. In our country, compared with major state-owned banks, their numerous counterparts in medium and small sized joint-equity commercial sector have, over the time, since new credit policy took effect in2009in particular, shown traits of high intensity and longer credit loans, which, if not handled effectively, will affect their development in the long term. the paper analyze how medium and small sized banks should, in the light of the current macro economic situation, adjust credit structure, as required by Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) System in efforts to realize accurate market locating and maintain their own momentum, taking Pudong branch of S bank for instance.To begin with, the thesis takes a look at the theoretical development of ERM. and relevant theories on credit structure adjustment.Secondly, the paper analyzes, based on the operation data of Pudong branch of S bank, the cause and current situation of the credit structure of the bank.In the third place. the paper gives an introduction about the categorization of commercials banks in China in terms of size, in addition to characteristics of credit structure of middle and small sized commercial banks while emphasizing the necessity and urgency of credit structure adjustment.Finally, the paper takes Pudong Branch of Bank S as an example, presenting tailored improvement strategy and measures strategy for medium and middle sized banks in the course of credit structure adjustment as per ERM theory, which serve as a contributing factor in strengthening core competitive edges and realizing sustainable development of the banks.
