Exhibition Economy in China, as a new economic phenomena and new economicgrowth point, is drawing relevant professional field’s attention with an average20%annual increasing rate in recent years. There are many researches on Exhibition from theaspects of Tourism, Marketing, Public Administration and Information Management.This paper, which based on the summarizing of the communication attribute inexhibition evolution, attempts to research on Exhibition Communication from the aspectof Communications.The combination of empirical and critical research approaches is adopted todecipher Exhibition Communication in this paper. First, empirical research approach isused by taking symbol-constituted media display system as main object of research, andbased on the clear understand of constructive logic and basic feature of symbol systemto inspect the Exhibition Communication’s function and effect in the frame of culturalresearch. Second, critical research approach is used on the basis of Guy Ernest Dobord’sSpectacle Society Theory and Bourdieu’s Cultural Captial Theory,by taking the goodsconsumption as a point of penetration to probe into the exchange and marketingbetween image capital and culture capital. Finally, this paper takes the China Pavilion in2010Shanghai EXPO as an example for text analyzing which analyses the politicaleconomics in Exhibition Communication.This paper maintains that Exhibition Communication has strong informationencoding ability to get satisfactory information communication effect and makeconsiderable economic benefit to propel exhibition industry development. Meanwhile,the flourishing exhibition industry accelerates science and technology progress,stimulates cultural industry creativity and promotes consumption desire. ExhibitionCommunication is also developing very well in this cyclical process. In addition,Exhibition Communication is also a place for knowledge acquisition. The “RecurrentScene” technology breaks the space limitation, which offers the audience a platform forunderstanding multiple cultures, thus Exhibition Communication also becomeseducational. However,“Human conquered by spectacle is conquered by economics”,The deeper level of "education"meaning built in Exhibition Communication is itsbuilding the order and rules of "culture compliance".The spectacle which ExhibitionCommunication manufactured makes the production discriminatorily, derives art fromlife. The audiences are controlled by presentation and lose the capability and willingness to distinguish between reality and virtual. Long past, ExhibitionCommunication will give a more profound communication of social stratification anddifferentiation of other negative social effects of the structure,which spread in theexhibition detrimental to the development, the healthy development of society as awhole is harmful, the exhibition’s development needs to address these communicationissues.
