The Upper Yangtze River Region Urbanization Development Model Studies

The urbanization is the general trend of human civilization and social andeconomic development, the only road of the transformation of backward agriculturalcountry to modern industrial nations.At the beginning of the reform and opening up, inChina which farming heft weighs and the industrialization is just emerging, there is noprecedent urbanization development mode, but in the past60years, throughout theactive grope for suitable urbanization path to China’s national conditions, the varioussuccessful modes were emerged in large numbers, urban appearance and people’s livingstandards have been on a new step. The upper Yangtze River area is located in thewestern of China with special landform, large population, low labor quality andrelatively behind economic development, this makes the upper Yangtze river regionurbanization much restriction. This paper through a series of analysis to find suitableurbanization development for the upper Yangtze River region pattern, also it is aneffective way to realize the region urban-rural harmonious, economic and socialstability and development.In this paper, regional economic hinterland of Yangtze River-Chongqing City,Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province and Yunnan Province as the research object, theuse of Central Place Theory, binary structure of theoretical and empirical researchmethods and norms for analysis of urbanization for the upper Yangtze mode ofdevelopment status and a number of empirical analysis to identify the region, theproblems of urbanization, the urbanization development model home and abroadsuccess stories and experiences, according to background-objectives-the path of theideas proposed for the upper Yangtze goal of the development of urbanization andproposed the model to achieve effective protection of the path.It shows that the upper Yangtze is still in early development close to the middlestage of industrialization, and the four provinces of industrialization and urbanization,the coordination of inconsistent, mainly due to different levels of development ofindustrialization, in general, lag behind in industrialization and urbanization, with manyResearch at The different industrialization; Yangtze River in Chongqing area outside thefour provinces and cities than the proportion of tertiary industry on the development ofurbanization have a greater role in promoting, but the city of Chongqing, the proportionof tertiary industry and urbanization on the city behind the long-term development adversely affected; and found the upper Yangtze and the lack of radiation with largedriving big cities and small towns do not re-duplication and quality is serious. Model forthe future development of the industry as support, to coordinate the development ofurbanization and industrialization, speed up the transfer of rural surplus labor, attentionto the construction of large cities, relying on big cities, breaking the administrativedivisions and build the basic form of urban group urban system, and positivedevelopment of county economy as the leading small towns and so on. These arehelpful to the upper Yangtze River’s further promoting the development of urbanizationin a theoretical basis and practical experience.
