Research On The Competitiveness Of Equipment Manufacturing Industry In The Area Of Beijing, Tianjin And Hebei Province

With the rapid development of Chinese economy and the acceleration of the industrializing process, the equipment manufacturing industry has become increasingly prominent in national economy. A highly developed equipment manufacturing industry is a significant manifestation of the international competitiveness. At present, the development of equipment manufacturing industry in the world takes on four new features:the continuous deepening of the global division of labor, the clustering of the industry, the informationization of the manufacturing industry and the service based on the internet. The clustering of the industry gradually becomes a rather distinctive form of the economic organization in the process of development of the world economy and the clustering effect produced is exactly the source of enhancing the competitiveness. The equipment manufacturing industry, as a capital and technology intensive industry, carries the feature of a high degree of industry relevancy and a much longer industry chain as well. Reducing the production cost, accelerating the technology innovation and improving the competitiveness of the equipment manufacturing industry promptly can be achieved through implementing the strategy of industrial cluster, giving play effectively to economic advantages in such aspects as industrial scale, the mechanism of cooperation and competition, network characteristics and so on together with coordinating the relevant links of industrial chain.Currently, with regard to the study of the development of the equipment manufacturing industry in the area of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province in academics, little attention has been paid to the research of competitiveness in the theoretical and empirical aspects from the perspective of industrial cluster. This thesis will probe into improving the competitiveness of equipment manufacturing industry in this area by means of the theory and research methodology relating to the industrial cluster.Firstly, through the application of spatial Gini Coefficient, the index of geographic concentration and location quotient to calculate and estimate whether the clustering level of equipment manufacturing industry in the area mentioned above forms the cluster or not, this thesis will come to a conclusion that partial equipment manufacturing industry in this area has formed the industrial cluster in local areas and make a simple description of its development status. Secondly, based on the factors influencing the competitive advantage of the cluster, this thesis will analyze the features of the development of equipment manufacturing industry cluster in the following four aspects:the industry scale, the market share, the network layer of society and industry and the resource superiority in this area and discuss the specific cases with distinctive features in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province respectively. Thirdly, using the factor analysis of SPSS software, this thesis will choose eighteen comprehensive indexes to evaluate the overall level of competitiveness in equipment manufacturing industry in twenty-seven provinces and cities all over the country, work out the scores of each factors in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province and then make the rank in accordance with the industrial scale, the debt paying ability, the operating ability, the competition in market and the innovation capability influencing the competitive advantages of the cluster. In addition, the level of competitiveness of the seven domains of the equipment manufacturing industry will be evaluated separately in this thesis. This thesis will also analyze the competitiveness of equipment manufacturing industry in the area of Beijing, Tianjin and Heibei Province from a new perspective of industrial cluster by applying the illustrative diagram about the data of the industrial cluster and the scores concerning the comprehensive competition.Finally, based on the empirical results, this thesis will put forward the policy proposals regarding to improving the competitiveness of equipment manufacturing industry from the perspective of industrial cluster.
