Equipment manufacturing is the manufacturing industry provides the production for national defense construction and national economy. It is the basic and the core part of the manufacturing industry. Since reform and opening in1978. more than thirty years, the equipment manufacturing industry in China has made great development, and it has developed a complete range and strong comprehensive strength industrial system. The equipment manufacturing industry has a quite big scale in China, the apportionment of economic index is great in our industrial system, obviously, and equipment manufacturing industry has important significance for enhancing national core competence. At present, in the equipment manufacturing market with keen competition, equipment manufacturing enterprises also are facing opportunities and challenges. Get permanent competitive advantage, it is the urgent requirement for equipment manufacturing enterprise.This paper based on the background of enhancing the equipment manufacturing enterprise" core competence, application the knowledge capital and value chain theory to evaluate the equipment manufacturing industry core competence, establishing the equipment manufacturing industry core competence evaluation index system based on industry background, establishing intelligence evaluation model of GRAP-SVM, application it to evaluate equipment manufacturing industry core competence, and according to the evaluation results, put forward some advice that enhance the equipment manufacturing industry core competence.Firstly, according to the value chain theory and the characteristics of equipment manufacturing enterprise, constructing the value chain model for equipment manufacturing enterprises to analyze the forming process of core competence. Secondly, combining the theory of knowledge capital, analyze the elements of core competence for equipment manufacturing enterprises from knowledge capital perspective, and establish the core competence’s evaluation index system. Then, using the grey relation analysis approach to judge the relevancy between each index and core competence evaluation results, extract the major influence factors of core competence as the input index of SVM model. Finally, through the support vector machine regression theory, construct the intelligent evaluation model of core competence for equipment manufacturing enterprises, and use the model that has been established to do the evaluation for enterprises’core competence.
