Jinan Trade Export Competitiveness Analysis And Competitive Strategies In The Five Central Asian Countries

Since2010, with the pace of world economic integration gradually accelerated, international competition is intensifying. Any countries and regions are inevitably involved in the international competition, economic competition is particularly important. A country or region’s foreign trade competitiveness in the international market is the focus of national and regional economic competitiveness.Shandong Province is the largest province of Foreign Trade, but not the powerful one. After2010, Shandong Province has made great achievements in foreign trade. In the international market, export products competitiveness of Shandong Province is still weak. As the capital city of Shandong Province, the foreign trade competitiveness in Jinan has a direct impact on the level of foreign trade import and export capacities in Shandong Province. Meanwhile, foreign trade is an important force to promote the economic development in Jinan. Therefore, in this study, system scientific evaluation is made to the current situation of the competitiveness of export products. We put forward suggestions on the foreign trade competitive strategy of five Central Asian countries, and how to take advantage of its potential to improve competitiveness.First, this study reviews the theory of international trade. Integrated using the methods of a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, we detailed analyze the market environment of the five Central Asian countries from both the macro and micro levels. The results showed that the five Central Asian countries have huge market potential. At the same time, through the research and collation of data on the industrial structure and foreign trade situation in the five countries of Central Asia, we analyze the characteristics of the industrial structure of the five Central Asian countries, constitute advantages and foreign trade import demands.Secondly, using the Statistical Yearbook and customs data of Jinan, we analyze the current situation of foreign trade in Jinan from two aspects of both volume and structure. According to the statistics of Jinan in1999-2011and the standard international trade classification, integrated using of seven export competitiveness indicators, the competitiveness of the export commodities index of Jinan is calculated. The results show that, the competitiveness of the export commodities are gradually enhanced in Jinan. Manufactured goods export growth rate is faster than the export growth rate. The entire foreign trade structure of export commodities has been improved following the rapid growth in total exports. Currently, mainly of manufactured goods, especially machinery and transport equipment, which stimulate the growth of foreign trade in Jinan. But manufactured goods competitiveness does not have a particularly obvious advantage. Foreign trade of Jinan is requiring improvement, regardless of the scale of export or export structure.Finally, based on the above analysis, combined with the current situation of the foreign trade market demand in the five Central Asian countries, through the use of supply and demand analysis, the theory of comparative advantage and SWOT competition analysis tools, we analyzed the market adaptability of foreign trade export commodities in Jinan to the market of the five Central Asian countries. We pointed out the focus of foreign trade competitive strategy of Jinan in the next period of time.
