As today’s world accelerates its steps into the knowledge economy era, knowledgehas played a more and more important role in the value creation of the enterprise. Thestaff, as the subject of mastering the knowledge and realizing the added value bymaking use of knowledge, has increasingly become the leading element for the valuecreation of the modern enterprises. Therefore, the modern enterprise managers more andmore realizes that how to attract, retain and motivate staff, especially outstanding staff,is a key factor of the core competitive edge for the enterprise.Salary management, as an important part of the human resources management, isof great significance for talents incentive. The salary system must be scientific andadapt itself to the enterprise’s strategic development, so that the enterprise can gain anedge in human resources. Therefore, against the backdrop of upcoming knowledgeeconomy era and increasingly competitive market, salary system, a key factor ofincentive method, is characterized by unprecedented functions and features with moreand more new elements. Besides the traditionally monetary form of salary, thecomprehensive salary management enriches its attraction of the job, workingenvironment, growth and other internal incentive factors, embodying its superiority interms of attracting, retaining and motivating staff and further becoming the maindirection for the salary management of the modern enterprise. Based on the workingexperience in ZY Corporation of China Telecom, this paper focuses on the appliedresearch on the issue of salary management for company staff.In this paper, it gives a comprehensive overview about the studies of the salarytheory at home and abroad, then implements diagnosis towards the original salarysystem in ZY Corporation with the guidance of the theory. What’s more, it conductsin-depth analysis of frequent brain drain, highly demands of the transformation of thebusiness talents and aging staff structure, and refers to the company documents. On thebasis of questionnaire investigation of its staff, this paper puts forward the suitablecounterplans for the establishment and implementation of the comprehensivecompensation management system in ZY Corporation by the application of theory of comprehensive salary management and the combination of the objectives of the ZYCorporation, with a view to solving a series of problems existing in the original salarysystem.This paper mainly tackles the specific problems during the work practice.Therefore, by drawing the lessons from the comprehensive compensation managementtheory and its operating model, and the combination of the enterprise strategy, businessfeatures and status of staff in ZY Corporation, it proposes the establishment of acomprehensive salary management system. This paper mainly talks about the issue ofcomprehensive salary management system from such aspects as the optimization ofsalary structure, the improvement of performance management as well as the increase oflong-term motivation, intrinsic motivation, with a view to achieving stable staff,improving staff skills as well as motivating staff vitality.
