With the development of economic globalization and integration, the economic of countries in the world are developing. Since the reform and opening up, China has got closer and closer exchanges with countries around the world. It’s like a double-edged sword, not only promote the rapid development of our economy, but also brought a lot of pressure to various organizations. Organization members have to face the fierce competition of the internal and external organizations, so the work pressure must be increasing. Facing the tremendous work pressure, the organization members may appear lower job performance, satisfaction reduce and so on. These situations may affect the physical and mental health of employees, besides, is not conductive to the development of enterprises. Therefore, each of organizations is paying more and more attention to the management of job stress, the management of job stress has also become an important part of human resource management in the organizations.In recent years, the burnout has attracted more and more scholars’attention, has become the focus of Western organizational behavior and human resource management. The foreign scholars has made some progress about burnout and have come to the conclusion of the burnout, while the research of this scope has just started in China.Crew, especially the officer as a special occupational group, has made a huge contribution on the development of China’s maritime industry. They are the core staff of the shipping companies, the quality of their work has a significant impact on the development of China’s foreign trade. They faced to a special work environment, which are challenge to their physical and mental qualities. So, they have more possibility to face high job stress and burnout.Based on the above considerations, in summing up the domestic and foreign research, this study chooses the senior officer as the object of the research. This paper firstly introduces the background and significance of the research, research purpose, research methods, research framework, and research innovation. Secondly, it carries out theoretical overview of job stress, burnout, locus of control and the relationship between them, providing theoretical foundation for the empirical research. Thirdly, combining with related theoretical research, it defines the research variables, puts forward research hypotheses and research model, and introduces the design of questionnaire and methods of data analysis. Lastly, it gets valid data from finished questionnaire, and makes reliability analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, difference analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis to testify the hypothesis by the SPSS17.0. Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, this paper makes the following conclusions:Firstly, for senior officer, the overall level of their burnout and job stress is a little high, and their locus of control is a little low.Secondly, different demographic variables have significantly different influence on senior officers’ burnout, job stress and locus of control.Thirdly, there is a significant positive correlation between the three dimensions of the burnout and job stress. Among them, the low sense of personal achievement has the strongest correlation with job stress, followed by emotional exhaustion, alienation minimum. There is a significant negative correlation between the locus of control and the three dimensions of burnout. Among them, the low sense of personal achievement has the strongest correlation with job stress, followed by emotional exhaustion, alienation minimum.Fourthly, role stress and interpersonal stress has a significant positive prediction of emotional exhaustion. The pressure from work itself and interpersonal pressure has a significant positive prediction of alienation. Role pressure has a significant positive prediction of the low sense of personal achievement. Locus of control has a significant negative prediction of emotional exhaustion and low sense of personal achievement.Locus of control has a significant regulative effect between the interpersonal pressure and alienation, and has a significant regulative effect between stress from work itself and low sense of interpersonal pressure.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forwards some targeted and practical suggestions. I hope they can provide valuable things to enterprise. Finally, the paper points out the research limitations and prospects of future research.
