It has been proved that service trade structure is the symbol of the level and quality ofservice trade. China and India share much similarity in many aspects like developmentpath, labor resources and national conditions, etc. Owing to the sharp advancement inhigh-tech service trade, India has earned world attention and has gained relative advantagein international service trade, which hugely differs from China where traditional service isstill in dominant position. Therefore selecting the two countries as research objects bearscertain theoretical and practical value. In this background, this paper first illustrates the definitions and relative theories inservice trade and its structure; then it describes the development history and presentsituation of the two countries’ export in service trade. With the application of static anddynamic indexes, the paper tries to analyze the history and changes of service export fromthe perspective of amount and structure. In the following, based on influential factors thispaper compares these two export structures and attempts to explore what causes suchdifference. Finally we can make some suggestions so as to optimize the structure in servicetrade of China. From the analysis above, we could draw some conclusion. It shows that currentlyChina has relatively larger scale and faster growth rate in service export compared to India, but the overall competitiveness in service trade is not strong and there is also immensedifference in competitiveness among each service industry. Referring to the changes instructure, both China and India change quite slow and there is no obvious optimizationdisplayed. Specially, labor-intensive and resource-oriented services still take up a large partin the total export of China. As for capital-intensive and technology-intensive service trade, the optimization in export structure of China is far from enough compared with India. Inthe end, according to what India has achieved as experience, China should make full use ofits own advantages to optimize the structure of service trade.
