Research On Feasibility Of ERP Based On CMM

ERP is the integration of advancing spirit of management and information technology that is the main way of information construction of many enterprises in our country at present. Successful implementation and effective application of ERP system can enhance the management level and the competitiveness of enterprises. ERP project is a complicated systems engineering, so it’s particularly important of making a feasibility research on ERP project to enterprises before the ERP implementation.This paper presents a framework of The feasibility research of ERP project,which includes the enterprise foundation ability analysis and selection of ERP analysis and investment analysis. These analysis, provide the basis for decision-making and implementation of ERP. The analysis of enterprise capability, based on the theory of implementation ability for ERP, reveals the relationship between enterprise ERP implementation capacity and enterprise ERP application level,and establishes an Capability Maturity-Application Level Model for Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation to analyse enterprise ERP implementation capacity and to be the basis of The feasibility research of ERP project.There are six parts in this paper. In the first part,the paper introduces the background, purpose, significance of the feasibility research for the enterprise ERP project and the research mentality. The second part mainly introduces the status of CMM theory, ERP-CMM theory and the current situation of ERP implementation capacity research at home and abroad and research of ERP project feasibility. The third part,based on the theory of implementation ability of ERP, establishes a Capability Maturity-application level Model for Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation and gives the method of appraising the Capability Maturity of enterprise implementing ERP in applying the model. The fourth part, based on the model, gives out the procedure and method of the feasibility research of enterprise ERP project, which includes the analysis of enterprise capability, selection of ERP and investment of ERP.The analysis of capability of enterprise implementing ERP, using the model, provides the basis for making strategy of ERP implementation; the analysis of ERP selection indicates the problems and the method of ERP selection; the analysis of ERP investment focuses on the costs and benefits and it makes the economic analysis on the feasibility by using the financial evaluation. The fifth part is the case research that analyses the feasible of ERP to a machinery manufacturing enterprises as the empirical research of the model and methods given in the paper. At last, the sixth part is the conclusion and prospect and it summarizes the research,points out the insufficiency and the further research direction.The Capability Maturity-application level Model is to expand ERP-CMM that makes ERP implementation theory used in analyses the feasibility of ERP project. The framework and methods of feasibility research of the ERP project proposed in this paper have a certain practical significance for enterprise ERP project decision.
