Quanta Computer was founded in1988. After20years of development has become aglobal notebook foundry industry leader. However, after the2008financial crisis,Quanta faced a significant change in external environment,such as the shrinking of globalelectronic industry market,the RMB appreciation,wage costs continue to rise,Industryintensifying competition, technical updating faster, merger&acquisition frequently andso on, all sorts of changes make a big challenge to its long term low-cost strategy. Quantaadjusted its strategy from low-cost strategy to the combine of Overall cost leadershipstrategy and differentiation strategy.This essay focuses on why and how Quanta Computer changes the strategic andresearch a series questions about how to determine the new strategy, the implementationmeasures, and the effect of these implementation. Case analysis method is used to restorethe development process of Quanta Computer’s new strategy. Starting from the difficultiesafter the2008financial crisis, the company analyzed the current macro environment andindustry environment and focus on the business development goals, the resources andcapabilities by itself, challenges for the future and competitors to deduce the implement ofthe new market strategy of overall cost leadership and differentiation combined. At last, theanalysis and evaluation of specific implementation measures and effects of the newstrategy, it is clear to the correctness of the strategic transformation of Quanta Computer,clearly the company’s market share and other indicators have been restored, and laid thefoundation for the enterprise’ further development. However the new strategy stillinadequacies in some detail, if these deficiencies would be adjusted in time, the newstrategy can achieve better effect on the market. This essay has a certain reference value forthe implementation of the company’s future strategy not only for Quanta but also for theother OEM industry enterprises.
