Study On The Digital City Construction Of Foshan City

Digital City has been a hot issue of the current urban construction, and is a more advanced state of urban development. Digital city construction is the core driving force also for the urban sustainable development. And it is endogenous motivation for improving the level of the urban management. Moreover, digital city construction is the concrete manifestation of the information process, which is the driving force of the coordinated development of economy. As of2012, there were more than270prefecture-level cities starting the construction of digital cities,125cities among have put it into use. In "Twelve Five",all prefecture-level cities in China will build a digital network of urban low-carbon economy.As a city in the Pearl River Delta Region, Foshan is one of the most powerful and vitality city all over country. Facing the trend of economic globalization and informatization, the municipal government of Foshan Keenly realized the influence of informatization, seized the opportunity to make strategic decision for the construction of digital city. In2006, Foshan by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping selected as a pilot city for the digital city construction, carried out the digital urban geography framework construction projects. After six years of exploration and practice,Foshan explored a development path which is suitable for its own needs. However,there are still so many bottlenecks in the development to be solved. Such as closed development leading to the standards of data and system being not unified, Information sharing failure and lacking of integrity,financial constraints causing the low level and slow progress of construction etc.This paper first introduced the importance and significance of the digital city construction. Then starting from the basic theory of the digital city construction, selected Foshan as the research object, analyzed the present situation and actual needs of construction of digital city of Foshan, including infrastructure, critical information systems and safeguards system. In addition, around the demand and the actual of digital city construction of Foshan, the paper designed a building framework and made technical analysis of key issues of digital city construction. At last, the paper summed the strategy with local characteristics for digital city construction by using relevant theory.
