The urbanization is the most important pull of China’s economic in the long run,but also an important carrier for the transformation of economic development mode and the adjustment to optimize the structure. Industrialization create supply urbanization create demand, and the difference of these two growth has led to a lack of demand, so the development of urbanization is critical. In the process of urbanization, transportation plays the role of the "lubricant" and "propellants", a perfect transportation system will promote regional economic growth, and reduce the cost of economic operation, as well as to promote the development of urbanization.Lanzhou City is located in the geometric center of China’s land territory, has a superior location advantages and economic development space. Since the reform, along with the rapid development of the regional economy, the level of urbanization is rising. However, due to the presence of poor urban transportation and many other issues, the development of urbanization and the economy as a whole is subject to a certain degree of obstruction. In order to better play the role of transportation in the process of urbanization, it is necessary to evaluate the Lanzhou City Transportation coupling development. In this paper, based on the the phenomenon of urbanization and transportation coupled development, through the analysis of the characteristics of both coupling mechanism and its impact on regional economic development, improve the coupling evaluation index system, drawing on physics coupling coordination function, build evaluation model,, study Lanzhou City transportation system coupling development, and then put forward suggestions.
