Research On The Estimation Of Telecom Operators’ Energy Saving

Global climate change has become an issue of great concern of people. In order to deal with global warming, companies in all fields are looking for ways to save energy and reduce pollution emissions. A wave of energy saving and emission reduction is spreading across the world. Although the communications industry’s energy consumption accounted for a smaller proportion of the total social energy consumption, the energy consumption of the this industry will have a relatively large increase as a result of the constant expansion of the network and user, and the rapid growth of the volume of business. In recent years, telecom operators respond positively to the requirements of the SASAC and the MIIT on the energy saving and emission reduction work. They attach great importance to and actively deploy energy saving and emission reduction work, considering this work as a long-term strategy for the sustainable development.However, how much energy savings can the energy efficiency programs and measures adopted by the telecom operators bring? And with the future application and promotion of these energy-saving measures, how much can the energy-saving potential be? The exploration and answering of these questions directly relates to assessment of the current energy saving work and the direction of the energy saving work in the future. This paper attempts to study how to reasonably define and divide the telecom operator’s energy savings and calculate future energy-saving potential, according to complexity of the power consumption scenes. And the calculating model is based on the thought of comparing energy saved by baseline period and energy saved by project period.There are three major research works been done in this paper:First, by studying the domestic and overseas relevant literature, this paper summarizes the basic energy-saving concept, the calculating theory of energy saving and energy saving potential, and the empirical research. Then summarize the empirical studies of the development of energy saving and energy savings’calculating methodology of telecom companies. Second, based on the original energy saving segment calculating model and the baseline methodology, this paper improve and detail the energy saving calculating model of control measure module, technology reform module and technology advance module. And validate the reasonableness of the model by empirical studies.Third, combining with the empirical results and the energy consumption characteristics of the telecom companies, the further energy saving and emission reduction proposals for telecom operators from micro and macro dimensions are given.
