Shandong Province has been the largest province in China’s agricultural exports.However, with the increasingly tough trading environment in recently years, the province’sagricultural exports have been influenced in extent. In order to ensure the export advantage,we must strive to improve the international competitiveness of the agricultural products. Soit has an important significance to improve the benefits of exports if we are strengtheningthe research of the competitiveness of the agricultural products.This essay studies the impacting factors of international competitiveness of theagricultural products in Shandong Province, based on Michael Potter’s "diamond model"theory. The essay is divided into five parts. The first part of the text is an introductionwhich includes research background, research significance, research method, the basic ideaof the essay. Besides, this chapter includes both innovation of this paper points andshortcomings. The second chapter is the theoretical basis of this study. Firstly, itsummarizes foreign and domestic scholars’ views from different parts, and then describesthe basic content and related theories of international competitiveness. The third chapterdescribes the current situation of agricultural production, trade situation and characteristicsin Shandong Province firstly. Later, it selects Trade Competitive Index, RevealedComparative Advantage Index, and International Market Share to analysis thecompetitiveness of agricultural products of the province. The fourth chapter is to preparefor the recommendations of the fifth chapter. Relying on "diamond model" theory, weanalyze the factors which include labor resources, demand, transport situation, farmers’mode, the government and opportunities. The result shows that those factors still havesome inadequacies even though some of them have advantages in extend now. The fifthchapter is based on these inadequacies from the fourth chapter to give some suggestionswhich include promise labor quality, adapt to demand, improve transport processing, buildbrand and enhance the investment.
