Anhui Regional Economic Competitiveness Evaluation

In the rapid development of science and technology and under theinfluence of economic globalization drives,regional economiccompetitiveness is increasingly becoming the focus of the governmentpolicy and theoretical research.More and more experts and scholarsrecognize that the key of accelerating regional economic development isto strive to enhance regional economic competitiveness.Building ascientific and reasonable evaluation index system and thus evaluating thespecific regional context of economic competitiveness is the focus andthe key of the study to competitiveness at home and abroad.Based on theresults of home and abroad regional economic competitiveness evaluation,this article evaluates economic competitiveness of the17prefecture-levelcities in Anhui Province.Since the reform and opening up,the economy of Anhui has entereda period of rapid development,but due to many of the basis of thehistorical development, geographical location,and the real economicdevelopment level, the imbalance of regional economic development isbecoming more and more obvious, and is relatively slower than severalneighboring provinces in the pace of economic development.This paperstarts from the development status of the city in Anhui Province, analysisproblems in the process of regional economic competitivenessenhancement from the year2005to2010.By setting factors indicators to reflect the level of regional economic competitiveness, and using factoranalysis to do empirical research and comparative analysis to17levelcities in the six years,we can obtain the main factors that affect thegrowth trends and magnitude of Anhui regional economiccompetitiveness,and provide theoretical and practical value to enhancethe level of overall economic strength and regional planning andconstruction in Anhui Province.
