With the economic globalization, customer demands for products are more and more personalized, and at the same time it requires high quality and low cost. Manufacturing industry is faced with such a grim situation, so we should find a proper way such that it can deliver products on time and improve the enterprise efficiency at the same time. Cellular manufacturing is a flexible production mode adapting to multiple product types and small batch. It balances the manufacturing labor productivity, the utilization rate of equipment, the production balance rate and customer’s individualized demand day by day. This thesis studies the issues for an existing production system for multiple-types product and small batch assembly line with low balance of workload, low motivation of employees, and low productivity in GU company.Firstly, combining with practical situation in GU assembly line, the cellular manufacturing mode and the traditional assembly line are discussed in detail, and comparison is made.Secondly, by analyzing and investigating the feasibility of cellular manufacturing for assembly line, a cellular manufacturing system is designed and implemented in GU company. Then the application of cellular manufacturing system for an production assembly line and benefits are analyzed.Finally, it establishes the mode of production evaluation model that is based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method. This evaluation model is established for the GU company to decide which kind of production mode should be adopted to maximize the benefit for any orders.
