China is a mountainous country, of which more than60%territory is occupied bymountains and hills. Regional tourism on mountains is popular among global tourismindustry and has vast potential for future development. As the foundation of tourismdevelopment and an important method of judging the sustainability of regionaltourism, the spatial structure of regional tourism and ecological footprint are theprincipal content of regional science and the critical direction of tourism research. Therefore, domestic and international researchers have thoroughly studied in theconstruction of the spatial structure of regional tourism, but few of them combined thespatial structure with ecological footprint. Constructing and optimizing the regionaltourism spatial structure under the guidance of the sustainable development concepthas a theoretical and practical significance. There are many researches on the MoganMountain tourist area, while none of them studied the whole Deqing County, whichmakes this paper that focus on the whole Deqing County innovative and practical. Therefore, this study, based on comprehensive studies on domestic andinternational researches, analyzed the tourism development situation, deconstructedthe tourism spatial structure, and calculated the overall and separate tourismecological footprint of Deqing County. Finally, it evaluated the above results on thespatial structure, proposed an optimization scheme, and provided a theoretical basisfor the regional spatial structure optimization and the whole region sustainabledevelopment.Based on the tourism spatial structure divided by traditional spatial theory, thisstudy explored the ecological footprint of each sub region from six aspects, including traffic, accommodation, catering, shopping, sightseeing, leisure entertainment, andwaste disposal. At the same time, it studied the overall carbon emissions and proposeda spatial structure optimization method that balances the energy. Taking DeqingCounty as an example, this study also provided a starting point for empirical researchand innovative approaches to optimize mountain tourism spatial structure. This study explored the stabilization of mountain regional spatial structure andits sustainable development method through theoretical analysis and case studies, andhas positive significance on constructing, improving, and developing the regionaltourism spatial structure optimization theory system.
