Research On The Position Of Dalian Port Within The Bohai Bay Port Cluster And Development Strategy

According to 《the nation’s coastal port layout planning》,which prepared by theMinistry of Transportation and the National Development and Reform Commission,the coastal ports in China has been divided into five ports cluster of the Bohai bay,Yangtze Delta, the southeast coast, Zhujiang River Delta and south-westcoastal.Dalian, Qingdao, Tianjin Which as the hub port in the Bohai bay port cluster,To compete for the leading position of the Bohai bay port cluster,three ports have putforward the goal of establishing an international shipping center.Three ports in thehinterlnads, port conditions, geographical location and other aspects of comprehensivestrength have their own advantages, disadvantages, and also have the opportunitiesand challenges in the course of future development.At the same time, in recent years,Yingkou Port which overlapp with Dalian Port hinterland has leapt to the Chinese oneof the top ten ports, developed rapidly. In summary, Dalian port and other ports of theBohai bay port cluster are increasingly competitive. Therefore, study and establish theposition of Dalian Port within the Bohai bay port cluster and give the correspondingdevelopment strategies, it has great practical significance.This paper first analyzes the status of the development of major ports in theBohai bay port cluster, hierarchical comparison and assess the strengths andweaknesses, opportunities and challenges in the overall development of the Bohai bayport cluster. Then summarize hinterland economic development of the DalianPort,analyzed the goods structure of Dalian Port. In the end, analysis the Dalian Portin the Bohai bay port cluster’s competitiveness through the SWOT analysis model,demonstrate and evaluate the actual status of the Dalian Port in the Bohai bay portcluster, and according to the SWOT analysis drawn cross-cutting strategies, from theview of improving Dalian Port’s status and competitiveness within the Bohai bay portcluster, propose the appropriate measure.
