With the restriction of the more strict country’s industrial wastewater discharge, the recycling rate of papermaking water has steadily increased. Because the change of paper sizing condition from acidic to neutral, AKD emulsion has become the largest usage amount of paper sizing agents in China. In order to solve the defects of AKD emulsion such as easily hydrolysis, low retention rate and high sizing cost and so on, firstly, by the reaction of cationic starch with the viscosity agent, crosslinking agent and so on, the emulsifying performance of cationic starch was improved, and the performance of AKD emulsion prepared by such cationic starch was obviously higher than that of commodities. Secondly, a new type of biomass emulsifier YSR-2was developed. By using YSR-2, the AKD emulsion with the performance of less foam, low hydrolysis, as well as high sizing efficiency was prepared. Then, the cationic starch (CYD) with low cost was prepared by supramolecular composite method, and the cost performance ratio of AKD emulsion was further improved. What’s more, a series of AKD dedicated polymeric emulsifiers were synthesized by using the homemade polymerizable emulsifier, and the effect of their structure on the properties of AKD emulsion was investigated. Finally, the best sizing synergistic agents, PAC and GJW-1were screened by supramolecular composite method, and the AKD sizing efficiency was improved. In the meantime, the AKD sizing cost was obviously reduced. Moreover, the results of this study have massive breakthrough on the preparation technology of high cost-effective AKD emulsion and enrich the theory of supramolecular chemistry.
