Ball mill is the main equipment of the ore material comminutionoperation, liners in the ball mill are easy to be broken. In practical project liner is one ofthe most replacement parts in the ball mill. The replacement cycle is short and it has tospend a long time every moment which leads to more outage rate. Changing the linerfrequently increases the labor intensity of the workers and can’t ensure their personalsafety. This paper makes a virtual prototype design and checks the strength and rigidity ofthe key parts combined with the development and research for the liner replacement of acompany. First, the virtual prototype is established according to the design requirementsby Solidworks. The integrated manipulator model is built through the design module toestablish the parts and assembling module to make a virtual assembly. After establishingthe manipulator model, the interference check is made for the manipulator. The modelexploded views are set up and the core of the manipulator is established to meet thedemand of the actual engineering design. Through the motion module the motionsimulation is conducted to ensure the accuracy of the whole movement. It mainly checks the strength and rigidity of main girder and key shaft when useANSYS to analyse the key parts. The analysis for the main girder is during the processwhen the manipulator changes the liner and crane is in the maximum extension position.Lifting rope is elastic system, and it has a large dynamic load when manipulator lift theliner, so the analysis for the main girder has static load and dynamic load. The analysis forthe shaft lies in its bending torsional and shear strength, and the theoretical analysis andfinite element analysis can be combined to check the shaft. The analysis results show thatthe existing design structure can meet the operating demands.
