Coal industry, asthe strategic pillar cornerstone industryofChina’s nationaleconomy, hasbeen playing a significant role in the protection of national energy security, promoting thenational economy and maintaining social stability. For a considerably long period of time tocome, it is very difficult to change the China’s coal-based energy structure,.Due to complex environment ofcoal mine safetyand potential securityrisk impercp-tible,coal mine security incidents have occurred from time to time, and made a great dealof injuriesin life and loses in wealth. In order to prevent the occurrence of coal mine safety accidents, ourcountryhas adoptedtwo measures, which arethe construction of large-scale modern coal minesand improving the level of small coal mines mining operation. Taking into account the actualconditions and the basic requirements of small coal mines, this topic designed coal minemanagement and control system based on ZigBee and PLC, and achieved four main functions,including the underground environment monitoring, miner attendance, miner positioning andventilation.Firstly, the whole design of mine management and control was been proposed, whoseoperating principle was been expounded systematically. Secondly, a brief introduction wasgiven, including ZigBee basic knowledge, technical characteristics and comparison with otherwireless communication technology. Thirdly, ZigBee tree topology was set up, the hardwareand software was designed completely. On the basis of ZigBee wireless sensor network, minerattendance system and positioning function became reality. Fourthly, PLC mine ventilationsystem was designed, the specific principle was that ZigBee coordinator obtained parametersfrom child nodes and transferred it to the PLC. Then PLC decided ventilation control systemrunning status based on the comparison results between the upper limit and the acquisitionvalue. Finally, the upper monitoring system was designed by INSPEC configuration software,which can monitor PLC ventilation control system. Remote monitoring of the minemanagement and control system can be achieved by the Web publishing feature in the INSPECconfiguration, has brought great convenience to people’s query requirements.This topic discussed the software and hardware of mine management and control systembased on ZigBee and PLC, achieved four main functions, including the undergroundenvironment monitoring, miners attendance, miners positioning and ventilation. Simulationand test results indicated that the system can complete design target very well.
