The performance of auto gearboxes has always been one of the most important factors in the evaluation of Automobile performance. The stability of gear mesh and motion transmission is directly related to the quality of gear during gear shifting. Chamfering gear is a important part of gearboxes in cars, tractors, motorcycles,etc which is also the basis component to achieve shift control and motion transmission.The traditional method for measuring gear could not meet the needs of automotive industry because it is time-consuming, hard to locate, lacks of repetition and subjected to human factors. According to the problem of gear measurement, A gear chamfering contour measurement method based on laser ranging is studied.The research contents include:1.It summarizes the key technologies involved in gear parameter measurement. Combined with the actual situation of this project, a method of non-contact measuring the parameters of chamfering gear is proposed, and reasonable solution is reached.2. This paper has successfully developed the hardware and drive control module of measurement system for chamfering gear which is based on laser ranging measurement principle, the high-precision moving platform is used in the measurement system, also. The measurement system can detect the contour of several sections just by scanning only one time. which resolves the traditional measurement problems such as poor reproducibility, time-consuming,etc.3. According to the actual function of measurement system, nine function modules about the software system are developed using Visual C++6.0.4.It completed the design and integration of software and hardware system, and ultimately developed a laser measurement system for gear chamfering contour. The measuring accuracy of the system satisfies the demand in industrial application.
