In recent years, the steel enterprises of China have introduced foreign advanced plateproduction line, therefore their technical equipment and technical level are in leadingpositions in the world. However, excess production capacity of plate product has become aunavoidable problem and the market competition is super intense. In this case, it becomesemergent to improve the product quality and the thickness of the products in the rate ofaccuracy and to reduce the cost of each enterprise so that this technology can change itspresent situation in working of funds.This paper makes a conclusion that the roll gap compensation control has a effect onthe finished plate thickness accuracy through viewing the AGC associated with the datarecorded by the PDA curves and the Shou Qin plate which has a higher level of plates’thickness control by comparing the statistics of the finished dimension conformity ratewith the reality of Shou Qin4300mm plat mill automatic gauge control system.First of all, this paper clarifies that the absolute AGC control is inseparable with L2thickness control model by presenting the conception and development of AGC and millroll gap control principle. Secondly, the mill automation system consists of the structureand automation hardware, the construction of factory automation network, PLC hardware,the scene automation element and the actuating element, which dominates the dataexchange. Thirdly, the rolling mill thickness control is directly related to the electriccontrol system (EGC), the hydraulic roll gap control system (HGC), and the mechanicalstructure, the control structure and the hydraulic control principle of the roll bendingcontrol system are discussed with the combination of advanced sensor and the effectiveexecutive element. Finally, the AGC has obvious superiorities in the finished platethickness accuracy verified by the analysis of field test data and the AGC data.
