The printing is an important part of corrugated box production process, and it has adirect impact on product quality and cost, and the environment. Corrugated boxmanufacturers face competition for survival, so how to enable enterprises to achieve win-wineconomic and social benefits have been concerned. In this study, we give a comprehensiveevaluation of corrugated printing process with the analysis method of life cycle assessmentand life cycle cost, look for the efficient paths of optimize the corrugated box productionprocess, in order to provide the scientific basis of reference for the designers, producers,government policy makers and so on.Life cycle assessment (LCA) has been considered to be the most effective environmentalmanagement support tools; the objective is comprehensive analysis and evaluation ofproducts or activities throughout the life cycle activities in the environmental factors and theirimpact on the environment. This paper combine with the LCA and life cycle cost (LCC), notonly used in evaluate the overall efficiency of corrugated printing process, but also build acomprehensive assessment system life cycle which consistent with corrugated printingtechnology in Dalian. We get the main input and output data, through the plant research andthe process of corrugated flexography technology and pre-printed by gravure processessystem. We determine the resources, energy consumption and environmental emissions in theboundary by inventory, use the LIME life cycle impact assessment methods to quantitativeanalysis the data, and then obtain the value related to impacts environmental. At the sametime, we get the economic impact evaluation results by use the life-cycle cost analysismethodology.At last, we discussed and put forward concrete suggestions for the varioustypes of impact assessment and comprehensive benefit evaluation results.The Life cycle evaluation results show that the key environmental impacts of corrugatedprinting process are fossil energy consumption, global warming, acidification andeutrophication. When the printing area is60%, the environmental impact values of afunctional unit for corrugated box flexography and pre-printed by gravure processes are 13.9276and21.4289, that is, the environmental impaction of pre-printed by gravureprocesses larger than flexography process. The board of corrugated box flexography andpre-printed by gravure processes is the greatest environmental impact process, which is the90%or65%in the four major processes of environmental impact accounting. Corrugated boxflexography process caused the environmental problems which by the consumption of fossilenergy, global warming and acidification, respectively are95.11%,96.85%and97.30%, onthe other hand, pre-printed by gravure processes are67.12%、70.21%and75.66%. When theprinting area is60%, the green factor values of the corrugated box flexography andpre-printed by gravure processes are12.14and12.76, the green ratio was1.05, whichindicated pre-printed by gravure processes unit of environmental impact was slightly higherprofits. Further to evaluate the corrugated box printing process benefits which the printingarea of30%and90%, we obtain the optimization program for different printing corrugatedbox printing process. Meanwhile, we also propose the suggested improvements for impactof various main.Life cycle assessment has the limitation when support of business decisions, as theenvironmental attributes of the product or process evaluation tools. The innovation of thispaper is combined of life-cycle cost analysis based on life cycle assessment, andcomprehensive evaluate two kinds of corrugated printing process. To achieve the maximumoverall efficiency, by quantitative calculation to achieve the environmental impact of unitcost.
