The anti-ultraviolet performance of cotton fabric is relative poor, and it is the easy shellfabric via ultraviolet, but its hygroscopicity and heat retention is good. The cotton fabric is themost populer consumables of regression nature, and it is the foremost summer dress material. Therefore, it is very important for the cotton fabric to be treated by the anti-ultravioletfinishing. As one kind of new pattern fiber modification and fabric handling method, theplasma technology possesses the feature of low energy consumption, light polltion, shorthandling time and evident effect. The cotton fabric was treated by anti-ultraviolet handlingwith low temperature plasma, not only can enhance its ultraviolet resistant effect, but alsodisplay green ecological effect. In this paper, the most advance plasma technology was used in cotton fabric ultravioletresistant processing. Due to the melting point of cotton fabric(1100)is low, the vacuum plasmahandling cotton fabric is easy to be breakdown to damage fiber. So the cotton fabric wascarried out by ultraviolet resistant finishing with atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge. Thehydrophilic silicone anti-ultraviolet finishes CGKF and HMDSO were chosen and the resultswere examined by the ultraviolet spectrophometer. Then the two different finishing agentswere campared. In the end, the optimum finishing agent and optimum experiment sheme wasfound out.The cotton fabric treated by the hydrophilic silicone anti-ultraviolet finishes CGKFincludes two handling methods, conwentional pad finishing and low temperature plasmafinishing. The findings indicated that the low temperature plasma finishing method is better. The low temperature plasma handling primarily includes two different methods, the fabrictreated by low temperature after pad finishing agent or before it. The findings indicated thatthe former is better and the average ultravioler transmittance, the former is1.59%. For thisreason, the optimum handling process is the former. The cotton fabric was treated byHMDSO with the former method, the average ultravioler transmittance is3.36%.Consequently, the cotton fabric was treated by CGKF was better, and the plasma optimumhandling process: plasma irradiation time60s, plasma irradiation distance9mm.. In the anti-ultraviolet handling cotton fabric experiment with CGKF and HMDSO, thebonding effect of cotton fabric and finishing agent was characterized by infrared spectrogram. The surface modality of cotton fabric was observed and contrasted by scanning electronmicroscope. Besides, the serviceability was not influence basically after anti-ultraviolerhandling, and the color of the cotton fabric was not influenced after handling byanti-ultraviolet finishing agent CGKF and HMDSO.
