Recent years have witnessed rapid development of natural gas utilization in the field of clean energy. CNOOC manages to receive LNG from overseas with the establishment of liquid natural gas terminal, so as to improve the domestic energy structure. It is extremely important to guarantee the security in the storage and transportation of LNG due to the difficulty in the process. In this project, high-security devices were applied such as the large cryogenic storage tank, pressure pipe, cryogenic pump and vacuum valve etc. in hardware,with SIEMENS PCS7being platform for software design. The security system included distributed control system; emergency shut-down system and fire and gas system. The whole system was composed of SIEMENS hardware such as automatic cable, controller, communication processor, ES, and OS in order to ensure the security in the storage and transportation of LNG. Besides, software logic programming and real-time data communication made it possible to achieve interlock reaction rapidly.This paper firstly analyzes the main devices and process flow of LNG station. Then Fault-tree was applied to analyze the security in this project. With SIMATIC PCS7as the platform for software design, hardware configuration was completed in accordance with the security requirements in the technology of LNG, loop redundant network project and profibus fieldbus technology were applied to guarantee the accuracy of data communication, and software design was completed with SIMATIC MANAGER and Safety Matrix. Then, improvement to the security system was made through interlock control design and simulation. Finally, WINCC was credited as HMI platform to complete the design of this project.
