Urbanization and ecological environment are two themes which must be considered for social development now. The relationship between the two themes draws more and more attention of both domestic scholars and foreign scholars. The relationship is also the important research content to achieve the four modernizations in China, to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and to achieve harmonious development between people and nature. If people only considered the promotion that the urbanization acted to the economic growth and ignored the ecological environmental factors, then the harmonious development between people and nature would not be achieved and even might pay some extra price. So getting full understanding of the internal mechanism of the interaction between urbanization and ecological environment is very important. Based on the summarizing, learning and drawing lessons of the previous research, according to the relationship between urbanization and economic growth and the relationship between economic growth and ecological environment quality, this paper derives the mechanism of the interaction between urbanization and ecological environment quality theoretically. The results show that the relationship between urbanization and ecological environment quality presents significant inverse " U "relationship. Under certain urbanization rate, the environmental quality deteriorates along with increasing urbanization rate. And when the urbanization rate achieves certain level, the environmental quality meliorates along with increasing urbanization rate. Then this paper makes full analysis of the status quo of the urbanization and ecological environment in Tianjin, establish the coupling coordination analysis model between urbanization and ecological environment of Tianjin and makes further analysis of the internal relations between the two elements. The results show that the coupling coordination between urbanization and eco-environment of Tianjin presents the "S" shaped curve, and that the coupling degree and coordination degree between urbanization and eco-environment of Tianjin are almost reaching the high degree of coupling and coordination. In2011, the coupling degree between urbanization and eco-environment of Tianjin is0.778and the coordination degree between urbanization and eco-environment of Tianjin is0.801. Based on this, the writer establishes the gray system model of urbanization and ecological environment of Tianjin to predict the changing trend of the coupling relationship between urbanization and ecological environment in Tianjin and to provide the base of guidance for the healthy development of urbanization in Tianjin. Finally, based on her own research, the author puts forward her own proposals for the coordinated development of urbanization and ecological environment in Tianjin.
