It is of great significance to study modeling and simulation methods for integrated automation and enterprise-class optimization of petrochemical industry. Previous studies of modeling and simulation methods for petrochemical plant mostly started from the petrochemical production and operation. According to the needs of PCS/MES/ERP levels respectively, simulation models are established. However, these models usually had low configurability and poor scalability, which leads to great difficulties in development, deployment and maintenance of simulation software. It can not fully meet the requirement of industrial application. To this end, considering the characteristics of production management and control in petrochemical industry and combining object-oriented software design, a study of modeling and simulation for petorchemical industry is carried out and a modeling and simulation environment prototype is developed. This thesis starts from the description of traditional modeling and simulation software for petrochemical industry. The technical difficulties of modeling and simulation are then discussed. This is followed by the modeling and simulation requirements under management and control mode of modern petrochemical enterprises, which are called "intelligent plant". Later, the necessity of introduce object-oriented modeling and simulation technology is described. To overcome the low reusability and poor scalability in previous simulation models, a configurable object-oriented four-layered approach for plant modeling and simulation is proposed. It is composed of model entity structure/model base, model abstraction, plant modeling and intelligent plant simulation systems layer. It realizes the decoupling of simulation and model. Furthermore, the specific implementation process of configurable object-oriented simulation environment is presented. Function modules and working mechanism is discussed as well. Based on the analysis of database operation module, model management module and simulator module, it is proved that the presented simulation environment has general design. After that, a modeling and simulation environment prototype is developed. In the end, based on the process of material production and transportation, a typical simulation scenario in MES level is constructed with the aforementioned method to discuss some application problems. The reliability of the simulation environment and the reusability of the model are verified through case studies. The extensibility of model and the application integration ability of environment are discussed. Moreover, an improved Spliter/Mixer simulation algorithm model is proposed to prove that the replacement of simulation model strategy can affect the results of simulation, which provides a reference to the refinery decision makers.
