The wool resource wastes serious in our country. It is estimated that by reason ofinferior, processing loss and waste in our country about ten tons of wool resources wasabandoned per year. These resource wastes contain a large number of keratin. If thediscarded keratin can be recycled, we can not only can reduce the pollution of theenvironment, but also alleviate the current shortage of wool resources in our country. Inrecent years, the research for extraction of keratin reuse is very active and someachievements have been obtained. This paper mainly studied in the following areas.Firstly, in the process of extraction of keratin we researched the solubility of keratinby adopting different reductant and whether to add Sodium dodecylsufate(SDS). Theresults showed that the keratin extracted by sodium sulfite can be very good to dissolve informic acid. By using sodium sulfide as the reducing agent and adding SDS, the stablekeratin solution was got. The keratin/PVA formic acid solution and aqueous solution wereprepared by mixing keratin with PVA respectively. By observing the solution and the crosssection of casting film the compatibility of the mixed solution was studied. For formic acidsolution, the amount of SDS in extraction process had an impact on the compatibility ofsolution. The result showed that the compatibility got worse with the increase of SDS. Thesolution ratio had a great influence on the compatibility. Solutions are partially compatible. For aqueous solution, the mass fraction of solution had an effect on the compatibility. Thecompatibility got better with the decrease of mass fraction. The solution ratio had a greatinfluence on the compatibility. Solutions are partially compatible.Secondly, we studied the influence of the ratio, the mass fraction, voltage, receivingdistance, discharge speed on the fiber morphology with the keratin/PVA formic solution asan example. The result showed the ratio and mass fraction of solution had great influenceon fiber morphology. The average fiber diameter decreases with the increase of voltage andreceiving distance. The average diameter of fiber increased with the increase of discharge speed. The best spinning parameters as follow: mass fraction12%, voltage20kv, receivingdistance12cm, and discharge speed0.2ml/h.Thirdly, different ratios of keratin/PVA formic solution were prepared. Therheological properties and conductivity of solution were studied. Nanofiber membrane wasprepared by the method of electrospinning. The molecular structure, aggregation structure, thermal property and mechanical property of nanofibers membrane were researched. Theresults showed that with the increase of PVA, pseudoplastic of the solution enhances andthe conductivity decreases. And the characteristics of nanofibers membrane were turning toPVA type gradually. PVA was added to improve the thermal stability and mechanicalproperties of nanofibers membrane. Finally, different ratios of keratin/PVA aqueous solution were prepared. Therheological properties and conductivity of solution were studied. Nanofiber membrane wasprepared by the method of electrospiinning. The molecular structure, aggregation structure, thermal property and mechanical property of nanofibers membrane were researched. Theresults showed that with the increase of PVA, pseudoplastic of the solution enhances andthe conductivity decreases.
