Single-flank gear rolling test and double-flank gear rolling test are used to obtain thetangential and radial composite deviation by their own transmission. They are commonlyused methods for detection of gear. But single-flank gear rolling test and double-flank gearrolling test have different measurement mechanisms and different measurement elements,the measurement instruments and measuring gear are different too. So far, there is no onemeasurement method can measure the tangential and radial composite deviation at thesame time. The group puts forward semi-tooth master gear and the method. Getting thetangential and radial composite deviation at the same time is realized. This paper exploresthe design of semi-tooth master gear and the influence of gear deformation on the relatedbasement. The main contents are as follows:1) According the existing measuring force of single-flank gear rolling test anddouble-flank gear rolling test and the GB/Z18620.1requirements, the measuring force andthe reasonable range of deformation of semi-tooth master gear are determined. Themeasuring force of semi-tooth master gear which is based on the exiting measuring forceof measuring instruments and combined with the survey date on the market is obtained.The reason of measuring gear deformation and the factors which influence stiffness arediscussed. The analysis method of semi-tooth master gear is concluded by comparing somemethods. The necessity deformation check of the measuring gear is further discussed andthe reasonable rage of deformation is determined.2) Simulate analysis the semi-tooth master gear using UG finite element analysissoftware NX8.5. The loading position of the semi-tooth master gear is determined. Therelationship between different factors and the depth of cutting half tooth space on the effectof semi-tooth master gear’s thickness is analyzed, the relationship between the depth ofcutting half tooth space and the shape variables is quadratic polynomial, and the optimaldepth of cutting tooth space exists. The curves and corresponding equation which is between the modulus, tooth width, tooth number and the depth of cutting half tooth spaceare given with computer fitting. The experience formula of optimal depth of cutting halftooth space which integrates gear modulus, tooth width and tooth number is established.3) The modulus scope of semi-tooth master gear is determined according to thereasonable range of deformation and the relationship between modulus and the optimaldepth of cutting half tooth space. The influence of stiffness on the different parts of gear isresearched.This paper contributes to the design of semi-tooth master gear, and promotes thepractical engineering application of semi-tooth master gear.
