Since the new century, college enrollment scale is gradually expanding,management system and the mode of education are both reforming, all these lead togreat opportunities for the development of colleges. However, new challenges existas well as the new changes at the same time. The speed of expansion of enrollmentis much faster than the speed of campus construction. Therefore, the needs ofrenewing and reconstruction of campus is important problem for the campuses tosolve.Due to the geographical conditions of the Universities in cold regions, thedesign of campus in cold region has special requirements. Basing from the coldregion characteristic and student behavior pattern, the design of campus can lead toa better development of campus in these regions and promote the students’communication and improve the outdoor activities in winter in these campuses.From theoretic sense, this kind of campus square design can provide a practical andtheoretical guidance, promote the construction of campus; while from a very realsense, the details-design of campus squares is available to improve the utilizationrate of the space in the campus Plaza, attract more students to enjoy the outdoo ractivities.The thesis first describes the development situation of higher education,campus construction and campus square construction till present situation, andpoints out the research purposes, research methods, related concepts as well as thedomestic and foreign researches on the issue of determining the content of thesubject. The second part is the analys is of related problem. The campus Plazadevelopment history is introduced at first, then the university campus space formsare also introduced, fina lly this chapter introduced the cold region and culturebackground of colleges. After that, the and universities and the Winter CampusSquare user behavior-patterns were analyzed, so the that cold campus square designand influence factors and geographical features were figured out. The third chapteris the winter campus square space design concept of construction, through theanalysis of the geographical condition of campus in cold region, it states the threeideas of visual perception, sensory feedback adjustable three design concept, aimingat the winter campus square design and approaching to provide guidance direction.Finally, this article states the square space design method of university campus. Thischapter states some practical methods, these methods are from the tingmacro, mesolevel of microcosmic level, putting forward feasible design strategy, from thegeographical environment, campus culture, behavior subject, geographical features and other aspects of design thinking, from the theoretica l and practical aspects oftwo for the winter campus square space to provide a reasonable design method,from practice to theory, and eventually can be used to guide the practice.
