The piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair is one of the most important frictionpairs in internal combustion engine. The lubrication performance of pistonring-cylinder liner frictional pair has great influence on frictional loss, wear of pistonring and cylinder liner, blow-by, oil consumption and particulate matter emission ofinternal combustion engine. Although the lubrication study of piston ring-cylinder linerfrictional pair has made great progress, it is still far from perfect. It is very important toapply appropriate boundary conditions in the lubrication study of piston ring-cylinderliner frictional pair.In this paper, funded by the project of National Natural Science Foundation‘Research on the transport mechanism of lubrication oil in the piston group of internalcombustion engine’, the contrastive study of the lubrication performance of pistonring-cylinder liner frictional pair based on Reynolds boundary conditions and JFOboundary conditions is performed, in which the influence of lubricating condition isalso considered. The study will provide solid theoretical basis and method forcomprehensive analysis of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair. The main content of this paper include following four sections:(1) IntroductionThe research status of the lubrication performance of piston ring-cylinder linerfrictional pair and the application of different boundary conditions is summarized.(2) Sufficient lubrication analysis of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair basedon different boundary conditions.A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is taken as the studying object, thelubrication performance of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair based on Reynoldsboundary conditions and JFO boundary conditions at different working conditions inadequate supply of lubricant is performed, and the results are compared each other.(3) The lubrication analysis of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair based ondifferent boundary conditions considering the lubricating conditionA multi-cylinder internal combustion engine is taken as the studying object, themodel of oil transport between piston ring and cylinder liner is established. Thelubrication of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair at different oil supply quantity isanalyzed based on Reynolds boundary conditions and JFO boundary conditions, in which the oil volume at piston ring inlet is determined by the oil volume on thecorresponding location of cylinder liner wall left behind by the piston ring at previousstroke, and the results are also compared each other.(4) Summary and prospectThe lubrication performance analyses of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pairconsidering the lubricating condition and based on two boundary conditions aresummarized. The lubrication analysis of piston ring-cylinder liner frictional pair in thefuture is prospected.
