A Study On Outdoor Recreation Spaces In Ten Old Campuses In Nanjing

Since ancient times, university campuses are cradles of talents, shouldering the mission of educating excellent constructors for our country. With the swift growth of our economy, the demand for talents has also experienced rapid growth, which leads to vigorously construction of campuses. However, the new campuses are always criticized by "large scale but nothing to see". People began to pay attention to the construction of the campus landscape, and the outdoor recreation areas in campus, began to seek the way of changing campuses into humane life habitats. Based on this, the author chooses the research of outdoor recreation space in campus as the content of the thesis, and wants to contribute to the construction of humane university campuses.Through collecting and collating a large number of literatures, including outdoor recreation space design theory, the Nanjing city profiles and the10old campuses’basic overview, the author summarizes the concept of outdoor recreation space, available principles of outdoor recreation space and so on. The author also conducts field research and questionnaire survey, using these results to summarize and analysis the plane pattern, composite mode, constructed elements, usage evaluation, aesthetic evaluation, usage purposes of the outdoor recreation space in the10campuses. Based on scientific survey and analysis results, the author points out problems existed in outdoor recreation space, coming up with some strategies for rebuilding. The details are as follows:Part1:Exordium. The author points out the background of the research, purpose and significance of the thesis, as well as content and methods.Part2:Overview of the basic theory, including the related concept of outdoor recreation space, type, function and external space design theory, environmental psychology, human engineering, college students’ behavior and psychological characteristics theory and so on.Part3:Survey and analysis of the current situation of outdoor recreation space in ten old campuses in Nanjing, including the overview of Nanjing City and the10campuses’ outdoor recreation space. The author summarizes the plane pattern, composite mode, constructed elements, usage evaluation, aesthetic evaluation, usage purposes of the outdoor recreation space. By using the data of semantic differential method survey and grey relational analysis, the author finds out some environmental factors which have deep relation with the evaluation of outdoor recreation space, at the same time, based on the investigation and analysis, points out existing problems.Part4: Optimizing strategies for outdoor recreation space in Nanjing’s campuses. Based on survey results, the author proposes some advices for the improvement of old campuses’outdoor recreation space and construction of new ones.
