With the development of the social economy, the demand for electric power and power quality is increasing. As distribution system is directly connected to customers in the whole power system, its reliability will directly reflect the overall level of the electric power industry. It is required that power companies must maximize the reliability of distribution networks to provide more secure and reliable supply of electricity, which results in better economic and social benefits. The reliability indices of power supply system, which are the comprehensive reflections of all aspects of quality and management level of the power supply system, reflect the capacity of power supply system to provide the power for users. The main indices of evaluating the reliability of the power supply system are:Customer Average Interruption Duration Index, Customer Average Interruption Frequency Index and so on.This article supplies the indices and methods of reliability assessment in the Lvliang distribution network through the study and learning of reliability indices and reliability assessment methods of distribution network. This article makes quantitative analysis on power supply reliability of typical connection-mode of overhead lines and cable lines in Lvliang distribution network and obtains the corresponding reliability indices through the actual grid operation data. The last part summarizes seven measures to improve the reliability of Lvliang distribution network and comes to the conclusion that enhancing management of power supply reliability is the most economical and effective measure to improve the reliability.
