The massive construction of highway has been going on more than20years in ourcountry. With many years of operation, some roads have been going into the maintenancestage. Facing an increasingly grim situation of road maintenance, the traditional correctivemaintenance has been difficult to competent for the conservation needs. Looking for newways to keep the road network in good condition, improve road conditions, reducemaintenance costs and extend road life, is still an important issue for road maintenance andresearching workers. Preventive maintenance philosophy is created under this prerequisite.Preventive maintenance to achieve the desired effect critically on three questions,Oneis to determine target sections of whether it is appropriate to take preventive maintenance, andthe second is to determine the timing of preventive maintenance sections conservation,Thethird is the road sections what preventive maintenance strategy to make a choice. To solvethese three problems, first need to master the road conditions, which relates to pavementperformance indicators and targets selected prediction, in the performance prediction useingof gray-Markov theory, first calculate pavement performance decay trend use gray theory,then use Markov method for long-term predictions corrected, to ensure that predicted resultscan be agreement with pavement performance.Full Life Cycle Cost Analysis theory can be used to solve the timing and strategy of theselection of preventive maintenance, Considering the full cost of the way in it’t whole lifeprocess, it established the related calculation model of all kinds of fees such as the vehicleoperating cost, the traffic delay fee and traffic accidents costs, proposed simplified calculationmodel of traffic delays and accident costs, Focus on the modeling process takes into accountthe additional costs caused by maintenance, research has indicated that the costs aresignificant in the whole life cycle analysis, should be taken seriously. By calculating the costdifferent of different timing and preventive maintenance programs, and ultimately determine areasonable preventive maintenance timing and strategy.With measured data of some a section of highway in a certain period of years inGuangdong Province, collecting information from a variety of traffic conditions of the road,pavement structure, pavement performance and conservation history, making a life-cycle costanalysis on several preventive maintenance programs, which are implemented on the road inthe fog seal, micro-surfacing, ultra-thin wear layer and synchronization gravel layer, the bestpreventive conservation measure for this section of the road is selected, and the optimalimplementation timing is judged through the corresponding measures in differentimplementation Years. The result has some reference value for guiding preventivemaintenance, Provide the basis for the future development of a preventive maintenance plan.
