Switchgear has the effects of cut-off power line, line fault protection, electrical network status monitoring, as one of the important equipment in power system. It is widely applied to switch station, district distribution room and substation because of its safety and reliability, compact structure, less land occupation and easy operation. Since it usually runs in a high voltage, high current and strong magnetic field environment, and temperature rising is its important parameter, monitoring switchgear temperature online can avoid it working in fault operation status so as to ensure whole power system’s safe and reliable operation.In this paper, the research status of switchgear thermometry and fiber thermometry at home and abroad is analyzed. The principle of fluorescence fiber thermometry is studied. The overall design of switchgear temperature on-line monitoring system based on fluorescence fiber thermometry is proposed to overcome infrared radiation thermometry’s limitation of application to switchgear and wireless temperature sensor’s difficulty of power supply. On this basis, hardware design process of switchgear temperature online monitoring system based on fluorescence fiber thermometry is described in detail, and software development is completed according to system functions.Finally, in order to verify accuracy and real-time of switchgear temperature on-line monitoring system based on fluorescence fiber thermometry, test platform under laboratory conditions is established. The results of test show that the system proposed in this paper can reflect the change of switchgear temperature accurately and real-timely and realize overheat alarm and fault early warning, in order to guarantee whole power system’s safe and reliable operation.
