with more and more power need for the modern society, the requirement of security and stability of High Voltage Switchgear becomes higher and higher. However, in the long time of running, the junction of moving contact and static contact or busbar will lead to accidents because of their temperature is too high. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor these areas' temperature.In this paper, we develop a set of High Voltage Switchgear temperature monitoring system based on fiber Bragg gratings according to structural characteristics of it, this set includes FBG sensors, High Voltage Switchgear temperature monitoring host, High Voltage Switchgear IED. FBG sensors are responsible for collecting temperature, and temperature data is sent to High Voltage Switchgear temperature monitoring host after the fiber grating demodulator demodulating. It can be displayed on the LCD in real time after appropriate handle for easy viewing. High Voltage Switchgear IED receives information from High Voltage Switchgear temperature monitoring host, and it follows IEC61850 protocol. The data is transferred to the host computer via an optical fiber, so it is able to monitor high voltage switchgear in a remote way.In this paper, it describes the design of hardware and software about High Voltage Switchgear temperature monitoring host and High Voltage Switchgear IED in detail. High Voltage Switchgear temperature monitoring host handles the running state of High Voltage Switchgear, and its state can be display through LCD. The received data are normalized by High Voltage Switchgear IED, and it establishes an information model for these data in accordance with IEC61850 standard, eventually forming manufacturing message specification, and it is sent to the host computer via fiber optic Ethernet.Finally, this set of devices is tested, and temperature acquisition is stable and in real-time, all of these functions meet the design requirements.
