As an important part in modern management science, project management plays a pivotal role in the project implementation process. In the construction field, effective project management has very important significance to improve the quality of the project, ensure the progress of the project and save cost. Since the project management was introduced in China, it has experienced a long development, but currently schedule delays of construction in China are still a common problem. Strict design drawings, construction phase inadequate preparation, poor coordination and sub-total package, and weather as well as other force majeure, due to delays caused by these factors, scientific methods aren’t taken timely to control the progress, leading that duration is less than contract requirements.In order to solve some problems occurred in the construction, such as planned duration is beyond the contract duration or the project is behind schedule for some uncertain factors, combined with schedule management theory, H residential project is studied in this paper, making a scientific and reasonable schedule which will play a guiding role in the implementation of the project. Through analyzing factors that affect the project progress, analyze the impact for different factors and take appropriate measures. In premise of meeting requirements of contracts, avoid unnecessary losses caused by schedule delays.This article combines theory with practice and put it into a project of residential construction. According to the characteristics of the project, workers make reasonable schedule plan and the work breakdown structure, define activities, then make an order, estimate the activities’ time, make a form of project schedule and calculate the critical path. With the use of network schedule and critical paths methods, workers optimize the time limit and draw up the schedule plan of the project to guide the implementation of the project and ensure the established time. During the process of the project, the dynamic control principle is used to decompose program goals and compare the actual progress with planned progress. Through the comparison workers survey whether deviation appears and make measures to solve problems in the project.At last, this paper summarizes the main research contents and put forward the shortages in the process of writing.
