Study On Cost Management Of Qinzhou Port Talanping Systems Integration Project

Cost management for system integration projects, as an important part of the project management, is directly related to the final results of the projects, successful or failure. How to efficiently utilize time, maximize the effectiveness of project management and thereby improve the quality of projects by reasonably utilizing and allocating the available resources under limited conditions is a common issue faced by all system integration companies.A system integration project, besides the general characteristics of a project, has its own characteristics such as high requirements in technology, fast changes in environment, high rate of staff turnover and uncertain customer demand. As its development, the traditional management mode has become more and more unsuitable for it; therefore, it is necessary to introduce scientific and standardized project management knowledge.This paper, by using the earned value management analysis method, described in detail the present management conditions of Qinzhou Port Dalanping System Integration Project, analyzing not only the major factors of the influences arising during its construction on its cost, but also the issues existing in the process of cost management. For example, the cost estimates were too idealistic; the project team members were short of awareness of cost management and effective control in continuity. Finally, by combining the author’s experience in project management with the actual implementation of its project, this paper put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for above-mentioned issues.It was expected that this paper would, through the study on the cost management of Qinzhou Port Dalanping System Integration Project and by appropriately combining the theoretical basis with concrete practice, summarize some effective experience and recommendations about cost management of system integration projects for future guidance and reference.
