In order to deal with the fast changeable market demand as well as pursue own development, the enterprise pay more and more attention to enhance the assembly line efficiency, reduce the quantity of goods in process flowing and pursue working procedure at same time. We can say that the assembly line equilibrium ratios has decided the enterprise’s productive system efficiency directly, therefore researching assembly line balancing problem has universal and important meaning to the modern manufacturing firm.This article first analyzes the basic elements of the mixed-model assembly line balancing problem, and classifies the problem then establishes its mathematical model. This paper give the conception of the ranked positional weight technique, and use the realistic example to explain how to use the ranked positional weight technique in assembly balancing problem, then analyze the advantages and weak points of this technique. Because of these advantages and weak points, we combine the theory of constraints and overall equipment effectiveness to find the bottleneck elements in the production system, Then the author proposes the improved ranked positional weight technique. In this paper the author proposes two impoved programs, one is artificial heuristic algorithm program, the other is automatic procedure improved program. In the first program, the author uses variance target to analyze the effect of assembly line balance. In the second program, the author gives a maximum working load factor of the workstation which has the bottleneck elements and designs the automatic improved program’s flow chart.This article research innovation mainly manifests in:First, the author proposes a mathematical model to determine the bottleneck in in the production system with the theory of constraints and overall equipment effectiveness. Second, the author uses the bottleneck to improve the ranked positional weight technique, and proposes two improved program.
