The design of power electronic topology plays an important role in the power electronicresearch, for example, a new power converter can lead to certain progress in power electronic.Besides,a good topology design can remedy defects of some components. But there isn’t onespecial method for guiding us to improve and invent power electronic topology so far, whichnot only makes the design greatly depend on experience, imagination, and trial of the workers,but also makes it diiffcult for us to do some research on the circuit topology.TRIZ,which was proved to be an effective theory to solve problems about invention,gives us inspiration for power electronic converter construction. So this paper tries tointroduce a novel way for instructing us to design topology based on the TRIZ contradictionmatrix. It is a set of effective and perfect theory to solve innovative problems, which has beenwidely applied in the engineering. This paper designs engineering parameters, inventionprinciples and contradiction matrix for power electronic topology, which can enhanceeiffciency and rate of success for improving and creating power electronic topology. The maincontents are as follows:1.Introduce the main contents of TRIZ, analyze its origin,development, applicationand future, and tell us there are rules to follow during invention;2.Explain the necessity and feasibility of introducing engineering parameters, inventionprinciples and contradiction matrix of TRIZ to improve and invent power electronic topology,redefine them with description of power electronic, and provide the procedure of solvingproblems about them;3.Discuss the applications in power electronic topology with this novel method indetails, and verify validity and feasibility of the method above with four kinds of regulartopology in power electronic;4.Infer the construction process of multilevel inverter and Z-source inverter with themethod above, further verify its validity and feasibility.
